I just want to state for the record that I'm proud of America right now. I'm proud of all the people waiting in line to vote. I'm proud that we have a person of color who is up for the highest office in the land. I'm proud of all the volunteers: driving people to the polls, working the polling places, making phone calls, and canvassing our streets. I'm proud of all the first time voters and all the voters who vote every election. I'm proud of the parents who take their kids with them to vote. I'm proud that we can do this without violence (please, no), without armed guards, etc. I'm proud that even though we strongly disagree about where we should be headed, we'll get it together when we must.
For one of the few times in my life I can honestly say that I am proud to be an American today. And hopefully tomorrow I'll wake up with a heart bursting with pride and a smile as wide as the sky.
This was my first and only post related to the 2008 Presidential election. I am thrilled with the results and think that together we are going to make a lot of changes for the benefit of all our families.
