Re-entering the Workforce

So we survived the first week of work for mama and daycare for the boy. I think we both had a lot of fun and enjoyed the new challenges. Well, except for the night waking and general orneriness of the boy. But that just might be being 2 (we had a birthday a couple of weeks ago).

I haven't felt any guilt or misgivings. I loved being at work and being with grown-ups. I didn't cry when we dropped the boy off for his first day of daycare or anytime after that. I have heard so many stories about mamas feeling sad when they take the kids to daycare, so I was really surprised not to be one of them. I am a cry baby, so I had every expectation to boo-hoo the whole walk home. The boy didn't cry either, he didn't even care to say good-bye. I take these as signs we were ready for the change, to have our own things to do.

But maybe I'm in denial. Maybe next week will be different. Maybe we did something right.

  2. I'm glad that things are working out so well and I hope they continue to do so. I hope when the time comes for me to go back, I have a nice smooth transition like you guys are.
